CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING ON PROTOCOL REVIEW AND RELATED PROCESS

The BoCTRe project continues to bring together two important committees in the clinical trials landscape the National Ethics Committee being the Health Research and Development Committee (HRDC) and the Pharmacovigilance Advisory Committee (PVAC), which is the National Regulatory Authority. The meeting was held on the 17th and 18th February at Masa Hotel.

The committees had previously convened at Mokolodi Game Reserve for a two-day training on "Introduction to Good Clinical Practice, Clinical Research and Research Ethics." This was not just capacity-building training but networking for the committees to forge relationships and enhance their working relations.

Moreover, the members had an opportunity to apply what they learnt by jointly reviewing a protocol.

These training sessions help in upscaling committee members for effective review on clinical trials protocols and enriching the committee’s knowledge on clinical trial regulation to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
